RC Drill Bits

RC Drill Bits

MSD supplies RC drill bits, or reverse circulation drill bits, for 3–10 inch RC hammer systems and 85–360 mm drilling, with multiple shank and face options.

Product Descriptions

MSD manufactures RC (Reverse Circulation) DTH bits with premium tungsten carbide buttons, purpose-matched to our RC hammer range from 3" to 10". Front-face button layouts (flat, concave, and convex configurations) are engineered to keep drill cuttings isolated from the borehole wall for uncontaminated sample recovery. Diameter range: 85–360 mm. Each bit undergoes hardness testing and gauge inspection. ISO 9001 certified.

Frequently Asked
Questions

MSD supplies RC drill bits for 3, 4, 5, 5.5, 6, 8, and 10 inch RC hammer systems. The confirmed parameter range covers bit diameters from 85 to 360 mm. Available Bit Shanks, diameters, button layouts, face options, shroud diameters, and weights vary by configuration.
Both are used with down-the-hole hammers to break rock through percussive impact. A conventional DTH bit normally directs cuttings into the outer borehole annulus, while a reverse circulation drill bit works with an RC hammer and dual-wall drill pipe to help direct cuttings into an internal sample-return passage. Actual sample quality depends on the complete RC drilling and surface collection system.
The Bit Shank must match the exact RC hammer model, and the selected bit diameter must remain within the confirmed working range of that hammer. The current range includes RE-, PR-, and RC-series Bit Shanks. For replacement orders, confirm the existing hammer model and Bit Shank designation rather than selecting only by nominal hammer size or hole diameter.
The parameter tables list gauge-button and front-button configurations for flat- and concave-face bits. Convex-face data is listed only for RC10A. Availability varies by Bit Shank and diameter, so it should not be assumed that every RC drill bit is available with flat, concave, and convex face options.
Provide the RC hammer model, confirmed Bit Shank, required bit or hole diameter, current or required button and face configuration, rock formation, abrasiveness, groundwater conditions, expected drilling depth, rig and dual-wall drill-pipe information, compressor capacity, sampling requirements, current bit details, drawings or photographs, and required quantity.
